Kings Canada

December 16th, 2009 | by luton |

Brayden Schenn, Brandon Kozun, Colten Teubert, and Martin Jones all made Team Canada. Schenn will get the best chance to prove his worth as he will get a shot to help lead the way. He will get a chance to play with one of last years heroes Jordan Eberle. These have the potential to be a strong 1,2 punch and will be relied on to get much of the scoring done for team Canada. Kozun will play sparingly on the 4th line to start, but if scoring becomes a hardship the pint sized forward might get a chance to move up and play on that line with Eberle and Schenn. Kozun is an offecive juggernaught for the Hitmen in the WHL, but he may find it harder to get the freedom he does in the WHL as he will in the World Junior Tournement. These 2 forwards have a lot to prove in different apects, and if the Kings are lucky they will pass the test with flying colors and maybe even get some chemistry between the 2 of them.

Colten Teubert is a strong punishing stay at home defencemen, and he will see big minutes against the other teams top pairings. Teubert will likely be lined up with Mario Scandella and they will be responsible to shut down the other teams top offensive threats. Teubert also posses some offensive ability and a hard shot, but his roll here will be to shut down the offence. In a year or 2 he will likely be doing the same thing in the NHL with the Kings, but for now we will get a sneak peak of how good our powerful defender really is.

Martin Jones was the 4th and last player/goalie to make the Canadian team. He will get to see some action however he will likely be the back up to Jake Allen. Jones much like Tokarski was an unknown until the ladder part of the year last year when he helped Cagary of the WHL make a run to the Memorial Cup. The Kings signed him as a free agent, and now is getting recognized for his outstanding play by being picked by team Canada. Jones could see more time than expected. Allen a top NHL prospect of the Blues has had a decent season, but struggled at training camp. His reputation and past performances for team Canada and in the QMJHL were too good to pass up on, but if he continues to falter in the first few games with Canada don’t be suprised to see Jones jump into the spotlight especially if he shines when he does get an opportunity.

The Kings have plenty of scouting to do as their future will be out to show the world they are here and they are coming to the NHL soon.

The World Junior Tournement starts on boxing day, and if you are a Kings fan you should definetly tune in to the team Canada matchups.
