Kings Prospect #9
December 28th, 2009 | by luton |Brandon Kozun RW
Brandon Kozun was originally born in Los Angeles, California, but grew up in Calgary Alberta. Kozun plays for the Calgary Hitmen in the WHL. Kozun is one of the smaller players in… well any league at 5′7 162lbs. He was drafted by the Kings in the 6th round 179th overall in 2009. Last year Kozun exploded wit 40 goals and 68 assists for 108 points on the year, and has continued to score this year at a fairly high pace.
Even though Kozun was born in the U.S. he has dual citizenship with Canada and chose to tryout for team Canada. Kozun made this years junior team and is playing very well so far. He had 2 goals and 3 assists in a 16-0 romp over the Latvians. In todays game against team Swiss. He didn’t tally any points but still played a strong game creating turnovers and a few scoring chances.
Kozun is small but very elusive, he uses his good speed and skating ability to make things happen. He is very competitive and has the offensive skill set to be a top end scorer in any league he plays in, the only problem that may occur when moving up to the pros, is whether or not he can handle the intensity and hard hitting close checking that goes on. His size could be a factor when challenging those who are much bigger than he is.
Kozun is used to a physical game as the WHL is the roughest jr leagues there is, hopefully he can keep it up once he makes it to the pros.
Next up, goalie Martin Jones

Sounds like a player. I like the little guys as long as they have speed. Luton, is he a prospect for the Kings?
